A relaxing afternoon tea time at a castle café with panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and Guishan Island

It’s been many years since I last visited Yilan. Though I haven’t explored many of its attractions, I was still very much looking forward to this trip and had done plenty of research. After visiting the Lanyang Museum, we headed to “Brookstone Castle Café,” just a 3–5 minute drive away. Unlike typical outdoor scenic restaurants, this elegant castle-like building made us feel as if we had stepped into a foreign land.

The journey from the Lanyang Museum to Brookstone Castle Café took only a few minutes, winding through various twists and turns. As we arrived, an elegant and charming European-style castle came into view. Perched on a hillside, Brookstone Castle Café not only offers breathtaking scenery but also allows you to enjoy the view both indoors and outdoors. Even on a non-holiday, it attracted quite a number of visitors.


Did I see that right? You can see a European-style windmill in Taiwan too. Especially under the towering windmill, enjoying a rich, aromatic cup of coffee—how romantic is that? Such a countryside-style windmill lets you enjoy the charm without even leaving the country.


We couldn’t help but stop the car and take some photos for memories.


The Brookstone Castle Café in Toucheng, Yilan, truly lives up to its impressive presence, making you feel as if you’ve arrived at a European castle. This graceful café has three floors: the first floor is the retail area and coffee seating, the second floor is all coffee seating, and the third floor is the observation deck.

On our way to the castle café, we were treated to beautiful sea views and sightings of Guishan Island. Though the weather was hazy without blue skies and white clouds, the scenery was still stunning.


From above, we enjoyed a sweeping view of Wushih Port.


Besides the café itself, there are some walking trails nearby for strolls. A small path next to the windmill leads about five minutes ahead, where the expansion of Castle B is still underway. Once completed, it’s sure to attract even more visitors.


It looks like Castle B is almost finished—just around the corner.


The nearly completed Castle B features an elegant castle-like exterior and offers stunning views of the Northeast Coast and Guishan Island.

Curious, we walked toward the under-construction Castle B to admire its exterior and take photos. We were fully immersed in its foreign castle vibes—the architecture, every window, and even the coastal scenery made us feel like we were in another country. No wonder so many people love coming here.


After visiting Castle B, we returned to the Brookstone Castle Café, feeling as if we were in a foreign land, filled with a sudden wave of happiness.


At Brookstone Castle Café, you can take in the beautiful scenery along the Northeast Coast. With gorgeous views, convenient parking, and the pleasure of sipping coffee while chatting, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea.

After leisurely exploring the surroundings of the café, we felt a bit tired and hungry, so we ordered our favorite coffee and desserts at the first-floor retail area.




Decorated with whisky barrels nearby, it adds a uniquely European castle-like charm.

We ordered a freshly brewed coffee and a dessert, allowing us to relax and enjoy the scenery. We chose a window seat on the second-floor café for an even better view, overlooking the entire Lanyang Plain.


You can sit with a cup of coffee for as long as you like—it’s a great place to kill time.


Each floor features a glass skylight that lets in natural light.

The entrance’s wall lamps and brick walls make you feel as if you’ve stepped onto a European street...


The transparent skylight fills the space with natural light—blue skies, white clouds, and a relaxed atmosphere envelop the second-floor café. Sitting comfortably on a wicker chair, slowly sipping coffee while gazing out at the coastal view...


Sitting outdoors with a rich cup of coffee, admiring the beautiful scenery along the Northeast Coast, breathing in the forest’s fresh air—it’s the perfect way to spend a relaxing and joyful afternoon tea time.

From the third-floor observation deck, you can gaze at the Pacific Ocean, Guishan Island, Wushih Port, and the Lanyang Plain—the views are absolutely stunning.


The beautiful Lanyang Plain features crescent-shaped beaches.


Looking down over the entire Lanyang Plain, you can even faintly see the Lanyang Museum below.


As the afternoon progresses and the weather becomes hazier, the blue skies and white clouds disappear—but the misty outline of Guishan Island remains just as beautiful.
