It’s family gathering time again. Last time we had Chinese food, so this time let’s try something different and go for Western cuisine. We found a place with a nice vibe called Ju Sixteen G16. Although it’s located in downtown Yilan, it offers parking, which is quite convenient. Every family gathering is always extra joyful when we chat and laugh together, and the best part is seeing the elders satisfied — that makes us even happier.

This restaurant is located on Minquan Xin Road in Yilan City, also near the intersection of Minquan Xin Road and Zhonghua Road. The first impression of its facade is that it feels quite upscale.

Hehe, this logo is creative — it incorporates a knife, fork, and spoon. Nice touch! There's even a little house in the middle, which seems to have symbolic meaning.

The interior space of the restaurant is simple and elegant. I thought the walls were done in exposed concrete, but they’re actually similar cement panels. Overall, it looks pretty good!

We sat by the window. Too bad it wasn’t daytime, otherwise the lighting would’ve been even better. The projected clock on the wall is pretty interesting, and the kids were curious about it. Since it’s a newly opened shop, there’s definitely free Wi-Fi, which is essential!

It’s a great spot for people-watching.

The counter design is also quite nice.

They thoughtfully prepared chocolate bars that the little ones love. Boss~we’ll go get some Up!

There’s also a small private room! The last time Ben went to Boracay, my sister brought me here for afternoon tea.

Aside from the set meals, the prices of other dishes are quite affordable.

Of course Up, they also offer afternoon tea here.

Haha, our big family of six adults and three kids insisted on ordering something different for everyone, so we could all try various flavors!

The bread is baked just right. With some sauce spread on it, it tastes pretty good, and you can ask for a few more slices to fill you up.

The pumpkin soup has a rich flavor — little Bei ate a whole bowl.

Seeing the adults dip their bread in the soup, little Bei followed suit and ate a few more pieces.

A refreshing and tasty salad — it seems to be seasoned with vinaigrette and mustard seed dressing. We had no problem with it, but the elders might not be used to it, thinking it’s a bit sour. Haha, that’s understandable — they rarely eat Western food.

Roasted German pork knuckle with chef’s sauerkraut — crispy on the outside and tender inside, and it goes really well with the sauerkraut. The boneless German pork knuckle allows for an elegant dining experience without needing to pick it up and gnaw. But hey, some people do enjoy gnawing!

Mom highly recommended it and even shared it with everyone.

Pesto-grilled chicken breast pasta — the pesto flavor is rich and well-infused, and the chicken breast is neither dry nor tough. It’s well-prepared.

This plate wasn’t even enough for the three little rascals.

Truffle mushroom risotto — this dish is also suitable as a healthy vegetarian option, served exclusively to our vegetarian dad.

The elderly said the rice grains had a firm texture, not too soft, and the rich flavor of mushrooms came through with every bite.

Pan-seared fresh fish with scallops.

Just a small taste of this dish was enough to appreciate how tender the fish is.

The scallops also looked delicious, too bad I didn’t get to try them!

Three-clove onion Danish-style pork chop with skin — the visual effect of this dish is quite unique. The chopped onions sprinkled on top are mixed with the batter and fried. When you cut into a piece, the hearty pork is complemented by a bit of crunch and the aroma of green onions.

The quality of the pork chops with the skin on is really good—no fishy smell and they’re nice and chewy!

Pan-seared Yilan cherry duck breast. Cherry duck is really becoming all the rage across Taiwan. It’s not hard to find these days, but what makes the difference is the cooking technique—it really changes the flavor. This duck meat is tender with a bit of bite, has a great texture, and is easy to eat. Even Mom gave it a thumbs up!

The skin is crispy and golden brown—really nice presentation.

American premium grilled ribeye steak. Hehe, this one was ordered by Ben (he loves his beef!). The steak is tender and soft, and the natural marbling in the ribeye is smooth and flavorful. As soon as you cut into the steak, the fat melts deliciously, and the juices just flow out—you’ll be grinning from ear to ear.

With good ingredients, just a sprinkle of sea salt makes it incredibly tasty. Hehe, of course, different cooking methods make a difference—if there were more grill marks on top, the overall texture would be even better.

After the meal, coffee.

After the meal, a sparkling drink. The sweet and tangy sparkling water is quite refreshing, and the bubbles add a nice crispness to the taste.

Dessert—little cakes, and little bagels just hit the spot.

We really enjoyed the little bagels!
Aside from the steak meals, the prices at G16 are pretty reasonable. The relaxing background music really adds to the atmosphere, and the seats are quite comfortable. If you’re coming here for a meal or a casual chat over dinner, it’s definitely a great choice.
