The Miaoli Hakka Tung Blossom Festival kicks off in April, with each tung blossom showcasing its own form of landscape art.

When the “April snow” begins to fall over Miaoli, you know it’s once again tung blossom season. Miaoli’s annual Hakka cultural highlight — the Miaoli Hakka Tung Blossom Festival — will officially open on April 19 at the Tung Blossom Park in Tongluo Township. The event will also feature a tung blossom music concert and, for the first time, include landscape art, blending music with the scenic beauty of the mountain town. Visitors can fully enjoy the splendor of the tung blossoms and even create their own “landscape art” using the flowers.

The tung blossom festival that begins next month will feature a highly innovative opening concert this year. In addition to incorporating theatrical concepts into the performance, the event has specially invited popular idols such as Bii Shu-jen and diva Gary Chen (Chen Shi-an), who will use stage props to depict scenes of love, memories, leisure, celebrations, and nursery rhymes under the tung blossom trees.

Moreover, the tung blossom concert will also create tung blossom landscape art for the first time, installing a large tung blossom windmill landscape in Tung Blossom Park. Visitors can also freely create their own landscape art using fallen tung blossoms. Simply take a photo of your creation, post it on Facebook, and have it verified by staff to receive a roll of washi tape featuring Miaoli County’s most distinctive tourist attractions.
