Celebrating Koshien’s “Taiwan Day” – EVA Air Flight Attendants Wear Hanshin Tigers Uniforms on Board

This year marks the first-ever “Taiwan Day (Taiwan De)” event at the Hanshin Koshien Stadium, home of the Hanshin Tigers. On the 15th, EVA Airways Chairman Chang Hung-chung threw the ceremonial first pitch, wearing an exclusive jersey gifted by Hanshin Koshien Stadium with the number 88 on the back. To celebrate Taiwan Day, EVA Air cabin crew also donned Hanshin Tigers uniforms and tiger headgear, catching the attention of many passengers.

At the Koshien Taiwan Day event site, representative Taiwanese snacks were available for fans to enjoy, including dry noodles, black tea bubble shaved ice, and mango shaved ice. A large screen also played Taiwan tourism promotional videos, while the Tourism Bureau’s Oh Bear character was present to take photos and celebrate with fans, welcoming more Japanese travelers from the Kansai region to visit Taiwan.

EVA Air also set up a booth and prepared a popular Japanese-style prize draw game called “Gara Pon.” By turning a handle, different colored balls would drop out to determine the type of prize won. Prizes included EVA playing cards, EVA ballpoint pens, limited-edition EVA eyeglass cloths, Oh Bear hooks, Oh Bear sticky notes, and Oh Bear phone-cleaning charm sets—exclusive giveaways not for sale. Additionally, those who filled out a questionnaire at the booth received a set of MeetColors candies.

Over these two days, EVA Air flights departing from Taiwan to Osaka had cabin crew dressed in Hanshin Tigers uniforms and tiger headgear to celebrate the “Taiwan Day (Taiwan De)” event. This attracted much passenger attention, with many requesting photos, contributing to strong promotional impact for the event.

To celebrate the “Taiwan Day (Taiwan De)” event, the Koshien History Museum also held special activities over these two days, displaying jerseys worn by Taiwanese players who have played for the Hanshin Tigers—including Lin Wei-yu, Cheng Kai-wen, and Hsiao I-che—allowing fans to try them on for photos. There were also several jerseys worn by current Japanese players, such as Torigoe Kei and Nomo Tomohisa, drawing large crowds of fans lining up for commemorative photos.
