Not just in Japan, but all cherry blossom enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the season are watching closely to see when Japan’s cherry blossoms will bloom. And after Japan’s Meteorological Agency finally announced on the afternoon of the 25th that “the cherry blossoms in central Tokyo have bloomed!” – that very evening, the normally red Tokyo Tower was bathed in pink diamond lights, transforming into a “Sakura Tower.”

Previously, Tokyo Tower had stated that as soon as the Meteorological Agency announced the blooming of Tokyo’s cherry blossoms, it would present a “Pink Diamond Light Show” that very evening. Following the news on the 25th that the first blossoms had appeared at Yasukuni Shrine, from sunset until 10 PM, the tower’s red exterior was replaced by twinkling pink neon lights – each representing a cherry blossom – instantly transforming it into a “Sakura Tower.”
