The male lead of "My Love from the Star," Do Min-joon, lived on Earth for 400 years—from the Joseon Dynasty all the way to the 21st century—and the place where he strolled with his lawyer friend was naturally steeped in old-world charm. Bukchon Hanok Village, located near Samcheong-dong with its numerous cafés, preserves the architectural style of upper-class homes from the Joseon era. It not only attracts foreign tourists but also draws young Koreans who come here to take photos and enjoy coffee.

The famous “Eight Scenic Spots of Bukchon” includeviewing Changdeokgung from afar, peeking at Seoul through gaps between rooftops, and stone staircasesamong other scenes. However, Bukchon Hanok Village is built along the hillside with an intricate maze of alleys—while immersing yourself in the Joseon-era atmosphere, be sure not to get lost!

Most of the traditional Korean houses preserved in Bukchon Hanok Village have been renovated and refurbished, exuding a “newly old” vibe. Many of the houses are still inhabited, and residents have grown used to the flow of tourists at their doorsteps. They casually unlock electronic keypads and push open wooden doors adorned with brass knockers to continue with their daily lives.Visitors are reminded to keep quiet if arriving after 10 PM.

Adjacent Samcheong-dong is filled with unique cafés and boutique fashion shops. After soaking in the Joseon-style ambiance of the hanok village, you can also “time-travel” to Samcheong-dong to explore its modern artistic vibe.
