New Highlight in the Bald Cypress Wonderland: The LOVE Viewing Platform 2.0 Opens in Sanyi, Yilan

Known as a bald cypress wonderland, the banks of the Annon River in Sanyi Township, Yilan, have now welcomed the “LOVE Viewing Platform 2.0,” created by the Sanyi Township Office next to the Ganzi Bridge. With its streamlined curves and openwork design, it has become a new photography hotspot for couples and soon-to-be newlyweds.

In 2016, the Sanyi Township Office constructed two LOVE Viewing Platforms along the Annon River, which quickly became a romantic new attraction by the water. However, due to damage from a powerful typhoon and heavy rain, the wooden structures were destroyed. This year, the platforms were redesigned and rebuilt, completing the brand-new LOVE Viewing Platform 2.0 in just 30 working days. It stands 225 cm tall, 280 cm wide, and 50 cm thick.

The township office explained that one of the LOVE platforms features passionate red and romantic pink, symbolizing love and vitality, while the other incorporates mysterious purple and fresh green, representing health and nature. In the evening, strolling under the colorful LED lighting, the reflections shimmer with an almost dreamlike quality. Connected to nearby attractions such as the Lockman Green Corridor, the market landscape paintings, and the Daguangming Canal, it serves not only as a romantic haven for couples but also as a hidden garden for locals to exercise and relax day and night.

Along the 1.8-kilometer riverside greenbelt from Ganzi Pit Bridge to Annon Bridge, there are also extensive plantings of bald cypress and 22,000 wild ginger lilies. Following the establishment of the Lockman Corridor, the LOVE Viewing Platform features whimsical Q-style patterns such as flower seas, balloons, and Lockman painted on the bridge. Nighttime decorative lighting has been installed at both ends of the bridge, and with utility poles buried underground, the view is expansive. Coupled with rows of wild ginger lilies along the river, they together shape a new look for the Annon River waterscape.
