Ten days after the 2014 Yilan Green Expo opened, cumulative attendance has surpassed 100,000. The 100,000th visitor today was the family of Lee Chun-hsien from Kaohsiung, who received prizes including a complimentary weekday stay in a premium view room at Evergreen Laurel Hotel.

Yesterday afternoon, when the 100,000th visitor entered the Green Expo site, Yilan County Government Secretary-General Chen Hsin-i immediately presented the awards given by the organizer. These included a complimentary weekday stay in a premium view room at Evergreen Laurel Hotel, dried shiitake mushrooms from Suyu District Farmers' Association, a Yi-Fang mackerel gift box, and a Yilan bowl — a grand prize worth nearly NT$20,000 — to the family of Lee Chun-hsien from Kaohsiung. Chen Hsin-i stated that this year’s Yilan Green Expo aims to guide the public to rediscover the new value of the land. In light of the trust crisis in daily life caused by food safety issues over the past year, the event encourages people to reflect on and practice a lifestyle that returns to green, natural, eco-friendly, and ecological living. The fact that the Green Expo has attracted over 100,000 visitors in such a short time shows that this concept has gained recognition and acceptance from the public.

Lee Chun-hsien, the 100,000th visitor, exclaimed how lucky he felt and never expected to win such a major prize. He believes it will bring good fortune. Lee said it was his first time visiting the Green Expo. Usually busy with his restaurant business, he often takes his family to get close to nature during holidays. This time, he came to the Green Expo hoping to help his children, who grew up in the city, learn about nature and ecology.
