What hotel amenities do travelers value the most? "Free breakfast" tops Wi-Fi

What do global travelers actually care about most when choosing their ideal hotel amenities? A leading hotel booking website announced today (8th) that after free Wi-Fi claimed the top spot last year, "free breakfast" has been voted as the hotel amenity travelers value the most.

Last year’s top-ranked free Wi-Fi dropped to third place this year. Travelers surveyed ranked 33 different amenities, and the results showed that "free breakfast" came out on top as the most valued hotel amenity, closely followed by accessible dining. Other top ten ideal hotel amenities selected in the vote include parking, non-smoking areas, and coffee and tea service in the lobby. The least important amenities included children's facilities, pet services, and hair salons. Over one-third of respondents considered conference centers and meeting rooms to be among the least important as well.

As for the most important in-room amenities, free Wi-Fi ranked first, followed by bathrooms with showers, while childcare services were voted the least important. Commenting on the survey, Alison Couper, Global Senior PR Director at Hotels.com, said: “Travelers seem to be paying more attention to their meals. With technology becoming increasingly important, it’s somewhat surprising to see free Wi-Fi drop from the top spot in the overall hotel amenities ranking, but it remains an important facility, showing that staying connected while traveling is still a key consideration.”
