A Mini-Trip Along Tainan’s “175 Coffee Highway” – Immerse Yourself in Rural Charm

Tainan Dongshan175 Coffee Highwayis an industrial corridor featuring hot springs, i* oranges, longan, and coffee, infused with rich local hospitality and countryside appeal. This year, the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration commissioned Elegant Farmer Art Factory to guide the Nanya and Liziyuan communities along the 175 Highway. The goal is to integrate tourism resources, repackage and connect local offerings, and launch the 175 Mini-Trip to allow more visitors to experience the area’s industries and culture.

At the Liziyuan community, local residents guide visitors through coffee plantations to learn about male and female coffee beans, discover the coffee roasting process, and enjoy coffee brewing and tasting. Meanwhile, the Nanya community offers activities such as exploring i* orange orchards, learning pruning and weeding techniques, harvesting bamboo shoots, foraging wild vegetables, and night-time firefly viewing. For meals, local mothers prepare traditional dishes like coffee-flavored stir-fried ferns, bamboo shoot chicken soup, and pumpkin rice noodles — a full day of immersive experiences combining local industry and rural life. Visitors can gain diverse ecological knowledge, understand the production processes of coffee and i* oranges, and fully enjoy the charm of countryside living.The 175 Mini-Trip is scheduled for early May, with hopes that the guided communities will eventually operate independently. Recruitment for participants is now open, and travelers are welcome to sign up via the Elegant Farmer Rural Fun Facebook page.。

Liao Yuanlong, director of the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, said: “To reshape the role of the Guanziling Hot Spring area as a travel destination, we will extend from the hot spring area along the 175 Coffee Highway, guiding the development of two key tourism service spaces: the Nanya Bicycle Station and the Liziyuan Coffee House. These are expected to be completed by the end of June this year and will be operated independently by the communities.” The 175 Highway offers different charms in every season — January and February feature coffee bean harvests, March and April bring blooming flowers, July and August are the season for ripe longan, and October to December offer the sweet-sour delights of i* oranges. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the health-promoting, wellness-focused mud hot springs all year round.
