In recent years, sports such as road running and cycling have grown increasingly popular in Taiwan. The New Taipei City Tourism and Travel Bureau announced the day before yesterday that it plans to add facilities such as showers and lockers at the bicycle rental station near Shuangxi Station, transforming Shuangxi into a “joggers’ paradise”!

Shuangxi boasts numerous natural mountain and forest ecosystems, as well as historic trails such as the Danlan and Wantan routes. Coupled with the Shuangxi Bicycle Path, it is a favorite weekend destination for cyclists and joggers looking to hike or cycle. To allow sports enthusiasts to shower right after their workout without having to wait until they get home, the New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has partnered with Taiwan Railways to transform the bicycle rental station near Shuangxi Station into a two-story building. The new facility will include showers, lockers, drinking water amenities, and stretching chairs. It will not only benefit fitness enthusiasts but also provide a convenient place for visitors to store their belongings. The upgraded facility is scheduled to be completed by September this year.

Thanks to its geographical advantages, Shuangxi offers jogging routes with varying levels of difficulty. In addition to planning a road running event in September, the New Taipei City Tourism Bureau is also considering designating nearby roads as marathon routes, categorized into “beginner” and “challenging” levels. When connected, the total length can reach the full marathon distance of 42 kilometers. For those who don’t wish to run a full marathon, the ground will also be marked with mileage indicators, allowing people to come and run while tracking how far they’ve gone.
