Taichung’s “Oak Grilled Steakhouse · MEAT GQ Steak” is guided by the “Steak Godfather” — Mr. Deng Youkui. I had visited once before and was very impressed, so I came again on this day. There are always many things worth celebrating and people worth commemorating in life. Thanks to my best friend, I visited “MEAT GQ Steak” for the second time.

The last time I came for lunch, but this time it was dinner. The “Oak Grilled Steakhouse · MEAT GQ Steak” takes on a more romantic atmosphere in the evening.

Even on a weekday evening, the business was still quite good.

The cooking area is open, yet there’s absolutely no grease smell — truly impressive.

Since I’ve already written about “Oak Grilled Steakhouse · MEAT GQ Steak” before, I won’t go over the environment again and will go straight to the point — the menu. The meals are served as set courses, where you can directly choose your appetizer, soup, main course, side dish, and dessert.

You can choose regular water or sparkling water, but I forgot whether the sparkling water costs extra.

On the table were fresh flowers — I liked them, although I’m not a fan of daisies.

We chose sparkling water, and the server asked if we wanted to add lemon.

Bread Basket — When the bread was served, you could still see wisps of warm air gently rising. The bread at “Oak Grilled Steakhouse · MEAT GQ Steak” is one of their signature items, also available for takeout. It’s crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and can be dipped in Ines butter or bamboo charcoal salt.

Pan-Seared Scallops with Caviar — The scallops were even bigger than 50-yen coins. After pan-searing, the surface had a grilled aroma, the meat was tender and fresh, and when eaten with the caviar on top, the texture gained an extra layer of complexity. The mashed potatoes on the side were the finishing touch, and the white asparagus that came with it was crisp and sweet — I loved it too.

Iberico Ham — I was originally hesitant to try this, but my best friend said she had tried it abroad and it tasted great, insisting that I must give it a shot. The cured ham was wrapped with sesame leaves in the middle, then dipped in a bit of balsamic vinegar — the flavor turned out surprisingly wonderful, it was a delight!

Crab and Corn Soup — This dish had a richer taste and a strong corn aroma.

Porcini Mushroom Cappuccino — Actually, I’m not a fan of the ethereal texture of cappuccinos, but the other option was onion soup, which didn’t appeal to me much either, so I ended up choosing this. Although I’m not a fan of its airy texture, I do like the flavor of porcini mushrooms.

American Premium Gourmet Steak — NT$2,880The steak was dry-aged. The staff recommended we go for medium-rare. The outer crust was slightly crispy with a charred aroma, and the inside was tender and full of meaty flavor. I truly believe the title “Steak Godfather” is well-deserved — the beef was really expertly prepared.

American Premium Newport Ranch Dry-Aged NY Strip Steak — NT$2,850I originally thought the Gourmet Steak was already excellent, but after trying a bite of the dry-aged steak, I realized: steak can be more than just steak. Compared to the previous one, this one had a crisper texture and more chewiness. Suddenly, I felt this one was even better!

Basil Stir-Fried Mushrooms — The mushrooms were stir-fried and then mixed with a generous amount of basil sauce. Since I love mushrooms to begin with, this dish gets a thumbs-up!

Stir-Fried Seasonal Vegetables — The asparagus selected here was really good — only the tender parts were kept, making it juicy and crisp.

Soufflé — It was matcha-flavored, with a delicate and smooth texture. Compared to regular soufflés, it didn’t have as much airiness, but it was still delicious. Soufflés must be eaten while hot! Because they don’t stay fluffy for long and will quickly collapse.

The picky eater sitting across actually doesn’t like fruit — I really wanted to knock some sense into him. Fresh fruit was topped with a scoop of sorbet. The fruit was seasonal, so it was sweet.

The dessert sides — if I weren’t so full to death, I wouldn’t have left anything behind!

Hot Latte — The coffee was pretty good, you could taste the aroma and it wasn’t watered down.

Iced Black Tea — I hadn’t even taken a photo before someone drank it.

Freshly Squeezed Juice — Forgot there was a drink included with the meal, so I ordered another drink. I’m such an idiot!
In the past when writing articles, I would always think about featuring more new restaurants and trying different kinds of cuisine. But gradually, I’ve come to realize that when dining with important people, I’d rather choose a reliable restaurant, because I don’t want to ruin the mood on special days. Visiting “Oak Grilled Steakhouse · MEAT GQ Steak” for the second time, I felt both the service and the food were still top-notch. Although the prices are not cheap, hey — it’s okay once in a while!
There will always be friends coming and going in life—some just passing through, while others stay by your side. Meeting someone in this vast world who shares your personality, thoughts, and mutual understanding is truly something to cherish. Thank you.
