Known as the "locals' bathhouse," Sichongxi Hot Spring Public Bathhouse regained its former glory after renovations in 2013. However, recently, some individuals were found using drugs, engaging in mixed bathing, and damaging facilities during late-night hours. As a result, the Checheng Township Office has decided that starting in May, the public bathhouse will no longer operate overnight.

The Sichongxi Hot Spring Public Bathhouse in Checheng Township, Pingtung County, has a history of over 100 years. But due to aging infrastructure, it previously had a reputation for poor hygiene. After renovation, the bathhouse has been given a fresh new look. With free entry and 24-hour access, local residents often come here to bathe and enjoy the hot springs while helping to maintain cleanliness—earning it the title “the locals' bathhouse.”

However, recently, locals have reported individuals not only damaging facilities during late-night hours but also ignoring gender-segregated bathing rules and engaging in mixed bathing. Therefore, the Checheng Township Office has decided to adjust the bathhouse's operating hours from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM starting May 1. This change aims to better manage hot spring water usage and maintain the cleanliness and order of the public space.
