Taipei Zoo Turns 100 – Street Parade Features “Great Animal Migration”

Taipei Zoo has been bustling lately, with the Malayan tapir “Maya” about to give birth to a baby, and the adorable “otter brothers” from Kinmen. But the biggest highlight is the zoo’s 100th birthday celebration. The zoo authorities announced that to mark this centennial milestone, a street parade will be held on April 19, featuring animals such as giant pandas and koalas, recreating the scene of the great animal migration 28 years ago.

The zoo authorities noted that the “Ark of the Century, Happy Voyage” street parade will kick off at 1:30 p.m. as the Conservation Ark sets off from Taipei Expo Park, arriving at Ketagalan Boulevard at 2:20 p.m., then heading to Nanshan Market to visit the giant panda “Tuan Tuan,” the Formosan black bear “Beibei,” and the koala “Patrick” before 2:50 p.m. The parade will return to the zoo before 4:00 p.m. to celebrate its 100th birthday, and the public is welcome to join the street festivities.
