After the cyanotype mural on Tainan’s Haian Road was painted over earlier this year, it became one of the most beautiful regrets for many travelers. Now, Fubao Village in Changhua County, famous as the “Cow Painting Village,” is set to fill that void. A nearly 20-meter-long European-style cyanotype mural will soon reappear in this creatively painted village.

Fubao Village in Changhua County is Taiwan’s largest dairy farming area and is known as the “Hometown of Cows.” Village Chief Huang Yaohui, aiming to create a cow-themed atmosphere, worked with his son Huang Mingzong to repaint the exteriors of village buildings in bright colors and depict various charming cows in different poses. This has infused new vibrancy into this tranquil town, and the “Cow Painting Village” has become a popular new attraction for visitors coming to take photos over the past two years.

Feeling regretful about the painting being painted over in Tainan,Huang Yaohui decided to bring the cyanotype mural to Fubao Village. He spent his afternoons personally painting the entire wall blue, which took over three hours. He also invited Mr. Zhuo Yonghe, who had previously participated in creating the Tainan cyanotype mural, to collaborate. Together with his son and other villagers, they began crafting a cyanotype mural unique to Fubao Village.

Huang Yaohui said that the cyanotype mural in Fubao Village will be an “interactive cyanotype mural” with a European style. In addition to being approximately 20 meters long, it will feature four distinct themes: “Living Room,” “Kitchen,” “Bathroom,” and “Bedroom.” A seat embedded in the wall sticks out halfway, allowing visitors to sit on it and imagine living inside the mural. The most amusing part? The bathroom door actually opens. “If visitors ask to use the toilet there, of course we’ll let them. But many open it and then come out saying, ‘It’s just a wall...’” Huang Yaohui laughed, calling it a little humor in their mural design.
