Asia’s first “Harry Potter Theme Park” to open at Universal Studios Japan in July

Universal Studios Japan, which broke the 10 million visitors record again this March, has just announced more exciting news.The Asia’s first “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” theme park, built with an investment of 45 billion yen, will officially open on July 15, 2014,taking Muggles into the magical world of Hogwarts and showcasing the wonders of wizardry.

The “Wizarding World of Harry Potter” at Universal Studios Japan will bring the magical world from the books to life. Hogwarts Castle, where Harry Potter and his friends learn magic, and Hogsmeade Village, where you can enjoy a butterbeer during school breaks, will all be authentically recreated here. In the future, not only can visitors ride roller coasters that soar over an area nearly as large as Hanshin Koshien Stadium, but they can also have the chance to find their perfect wand at “Ollivanders Shop.” This theme park is the second Harry Potter-themed park in the world, following the one at Universal Orlando Resort in the U.S.

At the press conference on the 18th, Universal Studios Japan invited notable figures including Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, SMAP, and architect Tadao Ando, and also had actress Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood in the “Harry Potter” films, on stage to add extra excitement to the event.
