Camellia Blossom Trail & Vast Painted Rice Fields – Taichung’s Camellia Blossom Season Kicks Off on the 27th

A vast painted rice field has now appeared in Waipu District, Taichung City. Coupled with the upcoming Camellia Blossom Season this Sunday (the 27th), visitors can head to the local observation deck to not only admire the painted rice fields but also enjoy the beautiful sight of camellia blossoms blooming among the treetops.

The Taichung City Government, aiming to promote the 2018 International Flora Exposition in Taichung, selected Yongfeng Village in Waipu District for its neat fields and picturesque scenery. With an adjacent observation deck offering a panoramic view of the painted rice fields and rural beauty, it became the chosen site for the rice field art. On the rice fields along Yongmei Road, the words “2018 International Flora Expo in Taichung” were written.

The Agriculture Bureau stated that now that the rice has grown tall, it coincides with the peak blooming season of local camellia blossoms. A trip to Yongfeng Village in Waipu District and a visit to the Yongmei Road observation deck allows visitors to enjoy both the painted rice fields and the camellia blossom trail. They can also explore Shusheng Winery and the Hujiao Village Farmers' Market to shop for locally produced agricultural goods, savor authentic Hakka cuisine, and experience a one-day Hakka Camellia Blossom tour.
