Alishan Forest Railway quietly launched a cruise-style train service this year. The May 5 trip sold out shortly after going on sale in late April, but railway enthusiasts who missed out shouldn’t be disappointed—the second batch to Fenchihu on June 16 will go on sale at 9 AM on May 5, though only 80 tickets will be available.
The Alishan Forest Railway, which finally resumed service earlier this year, has seen tickets in high demand. Its first cruise-style train itinerary, though only quietly announced on the official fan page recently, couldn’t dampen railway fans’ enthusiasm—the mere 80 tickets sold out in just 20 minutes when they went on sale in late April.
The Alishan Forest Railway Management Office announced the second batch itinerary at the end of April. Unlike the inaugural trip, which only went as far as Duli Mountain, this one will reach the current terminus, "Fenchihu Station," with stops at "Lumazan Station" and "Zhushan Station" along the way. Visitors can explore the two stations’ Japanese-style wooden architecture and local specialties. Upon arrival at the final stop, tourists will also enjoy a stroll through the old street and a moving performance of Tsou indigenous culture.
Tickets for the June 16 Alishan Forest Railway cruise-style train will go on sale at 9 AM on May 5. Orders can be placed by phone, with a limit of four tickets per person. Full fare is NT$800, and half fare is NT$580. For details, visitAlishan Forest Railway fan pagefor more information.
