Green “Zero-Carbon” Tour of Kinmen’s Lieyu Island – Rent an Electric Scooter for 4 Hours for Just NT$50

Taiwan’s outlying islands have recently been moving toward low-carbon, green tourism, and Lieyu Township in Kinmen has officially launched “zero-carbon green vehicles.” The Kinmen County Government has introduced 100 electric scooters and 6 slow-speed 14-seater electric vehicles, allowing visitors to rent an electric scooter for 4 hours for just NT$50.

The Kinmen County Government stated that actively promoting the area as a “low-carbon island” is one of its essential tourism policies. Starting with Lieyu Township, the goal is to make it a model zone for a low-carbon island. With 100 electric scooters and 6 slow-speed electric vehicles, the aim is for visitors to experience Kinmen in a new way. These options will gradually be expanded to other areas to realize the vision of a low-carbon Kinmen. Battery exchange stations have also been set up at nearby shops and convenience stores around the Martyrs’ Shrine, General Shrine, Hujingtou Battle History Museum, and Warriors’ Fortress for visitors’ convenience.
For the slow-speed electric vehicles, the main model is a 14-seater, with routes divided into north and south. Departures are at 8:40 AM and 2:00 PM daily, starting from Luocuo Fishing Port. The northern route passes by the 823 Artillery War Memorial, Warriors’ Fortress, Cat Rock Viewpoint, and Hujingtou Battle History Museum. The southern route goes through Bada Tower, Baosheng Emperor Temple, Martyrs’ Shrine, General Shrine, and more, with guided commentary provided.
