For just 10 RMB, enjoy food, fun, and handmade crafts—Hsinchu’s “Every Village Has Art & Culture” event kicks off on the 17th

Chuang San-hsiu, director of the National Hsinchu Living Arts Museum, stated that this year marks the second anniversary of the Ministry of Culture and the 20th anniversary of community revitalization efforts. The “Art Together Market—‘Every Village Has Art & Culture’ Life Aesthetics Feast” aims to bring aesthetic culture to the grassroots level and see arts and culture take root and flourish everywhere. On May 17th, the venue will be transformed into an artistic village called the “Playful Aesthetics Village,” incorporating retro elements into all activities.

Among the highlights, the “Village Entrance Stage” will feature performances by “Acrobatic Space” and “Tiger Theater Troupe,” showcasing favorite acts such as acrobatics and yo-yo juggling for children. The “Cai Feng Music Ensemble” will blend Eastern and Western styles in rock-inspired traditional music. Additionally, the “Angel Percussion Band,” composed of young adults with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, will overcome both congenital and acquired challenges to share messages of love and hope through lively and extraordinary performances. Of course, performance troupes from various villages and communities in northern Taiwan will also take the stage.

In the outdoor plaza of the Aesthetics Village, the “Treasure Chest of Wonders” will showcase the creativity and craftsmanship of village aesthetics; the “Handmade Fun Market” offers the joy of DIY crafting; the “Retro Snack Stall” lets visitors savor classic flavors; there’s also “Wishes on the Temple Square,” where participants can write wishes and draw hopes, “Big Tree Give Me Five” for collective artwork decorating a tree with colors, and “Interactive Flip Game” as an aesthetic challenge—those who pass can win lottery tickets for a grand village art raffle.

Those who wish to sign up early to experience retro snacks can visit the gashapon machine at the entrance of the National Hsinchu Living Arts Museum from now until May 16th. For just 10 RMB, they can spin to register, with limited quantities available daily until sold out. On the day of the event, starting at 10:30 AM, attendees can reserve various DIY craft experiences and retro snacks for 10 RMB, showing small but meaningful support for the development of village art and culture.
