The longest double-span steel arch bridge in China—New Taipei City’s “Crescent Moon Bridge”—opens on the 17th!

Crescent Moon Bridge, which connects Xinzhuang Temple Street Commercial Area and Banqiao’s 435 Art & Cultural Special Zone, officially celebrated its opening on the 17th. The traffic-opening event specially invited Mazu from Ci Hui Temple and Mazu from Ci yP Temple—both with a century-long history in Xinzhuang and Banqiao—to serve as “honored guests.” When the two temples were originally built, their gates faced each other from afar. With the completion of Crescent Moon Bridge, the two Mazu statues meet for the first time, adding special meaning to the ceremony and making the inauguration even more extraordinary. The New Taipei City Government has also arranged a spectacular riverside concert, creative food stalls, and an evening light and firework show. Families are welcome to attend.

On the day of the ceremony, 100 double happiness zongzi and blessing rice meals will be given out for free to participants. There will be fair stalls at both ends of the bridge and performances by local talents from New Taipei City. The event site will also distribute the “Crescent Moon Bridge” Inauguration Commemorative EasyCard. Simply get three temple stamps from any of the 20 designated temples in Xinzhuang District and Banqiao District to exchange for a limited-edition “Crescent Moon Bridge” Inauguration Commemorative EasyCard.
