The 2014 Kaohsiung International Travel Fair opened today (16th) and will run for four days until May 19. Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that Kaohsiung boasts abundant mountain, sea, river, and harbor resources, offering the best harbor tours, pleasant climate, and unique experiences found only in Kaohsiung. The goal is to create a top-tier harbor city that is both happiness-inducing and livable.

The Kaohsiung City Government Tourism Bureau has launched the “Travel Around Kaohsiung” concept, integrating the features and tourism resources of the harbor area and various districts, guiding the public on leisurely travels throughout the four seasons, enhancing the depth and breadth of the city’s tourism offerings, and allowing more people to see the diverse facets of Asia New Bay Area. The Kaohsiung Pavilion, led by Director Hsu Chuan-sheng, takes visitors on a tour of the Asia New Bay Area’s recreational map and lets them experience the rich and diverse charm of the harbor city, immersing them in the laid-back lifestyle of a port metropolis.

Activities on the first day were non-stop. The Kaohsiung Pavilion kicked off successfully with high energy from the “luggage girl,” and Director Hsu Chuan-sheng led the Tourism Bureau team in jointly launching the opening ceremony. The director also interacted with the public through games on-site and offered a first-day bonus gift—luggage. Mr. Wang, who was lucky enough to receive a suitcase, said he is very fond of Kaohsiung, and being able to win a prize while visiting the travel fair made him even happier. He said he would bring this suitcase to “Travel Around Kaohsiung” more often in the future. In addition, the activity where the first 100 visitors to check in at the Kaohsiung Pavilion’s Facebook page received boat tickets also garnered widespread public response.

Tourism Bureau Director Hsu Chuan-sheng stated that this year’s Kaohsiung Pavilion specially used real-scene light boxes and illustration-style designs paired with a luggage display setup, with a chibi-style version of Hsien-Ma Ma (a popular local figure) taking everyone on a light trip to Kaohsiung. In addition, there is a different themed itinerary each day, and participants in on-site activities can also win a range of great giveaways such as an EasyCard, solar-powered Love Boat tickets, Red Cape Cultural Park tickets, and locally produced specialty agricultural products including anthuriums, Daxu dried pineapples, and Qishan banana “Wanglai” crackers. For tomorrow’s (17th) activities, the Kaohsiung Pavilion will launch the theme “One-Day Farmer Experience, Four Seasons Leisurely Travel,” with special guests on-site giving out gifts.
