Evergreen Boeing 777 delivered to Seattle, Chairman Chang Kuo-wei personally pilots it back to Taiwan

Evergreen Airlines has added its 16th and 17th new 777-300ER aircraft. A delivery ceremony was held in Seattle at midnight (Taiwan time) today (22nd), jointly presided over by Evergreen Airlines Chairman Chang Kuo-wei and Mr. Ihssane Mounir, Senior Vice President of Boeing Commercial Airplanes for Northeast Asia. Both aircraft took off from Paine Field Airport at 4:00 PM local time, with one of them personally flown back to Taiwan by Chairman Chang, who is also a qualified captain.

The two new aircraft are expected to arrive at Taoyuan Airport at 7:30 PM (Taipei time) on the 22nd. After preparation, they will be deployed on transpacific routes starting June 3, operating the BR32 Taipei–New York flight every Sunday and Monday, as well as the BR12 Taipei–Los Angeles flight every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Evergreen Airlines stated that with the introduction of the new aircraft, flights between Taipei and North America will begin increasing from June 2. The Vancouver and Toronto routes will increase from three to four flights per week, the New York route from five to seven flights per week, and the Los Angeles route from 17 to 20 flights per week. After the 18th 777-300ER is delivered in June, the Los Angeles route will further increase to 21 flights per week, and the San Francisco route to 14 flights per week. At that time, Taipei–North America routes will offer a total of 55 weekly flights.

The new generation 777-300ER aircraft will be configured with 333 seats, including 39 Royal Laurel Class, 56 Premium Economy, and 238 Economy Class seats. With the addition of these two new 777-300ERs, Evergreen Airlines’ fleet will grow to 66 aircraft. By the end of 2015, five more 777-300ERs will be introduced. In addition, 8 of the 16 A321-200 regional jets announced for introduction in 2011 have been delivered, with the remaining 16 to be delivered by the end of 2016. Upon completion, Evergreen Airlines’ fleet will exceed 70 aircraft.
