Pasta is just the beginning — the current menu at Qiaoshi Ji has everything you could want.

When eating out with friends, she recommended an Italian pasta restaurant. Since she’s a consumer who really values cost-performance, most of the places she suggests are pretty good. Later, after checking the address, I found out it was Qiaoshi Ji located in the Shennong Commercial Area near Yilan University!! I’ve driven past it so many times without realizing it also serves Italian pasta.

If it weren’t for the banner hanging outside, you’d never guess Qiaoshi Ji started out as a pasta shop.

Because the owner wanted to offer a variety of food options to customers, and there are a lot of students in the area, aside from their signature pasta, they also serve fried foods, Black Ball Soft Tofu with Grass Jelly, and drinks. Unexpectedly, these non-main dishes ended up stealing the spotlight and overshadowing the pasta itself. You really wouldn’t know from the entrance.

Menu — this diverse menu is actually quite great from another perspective. If you’re in a big group and want to order some fried food, drinks, noodles, or rice, there are plenty of good choices.

Our group ordered the Curry-flavored Fresh Squid Omurice with Rice, Clear Stir-fried Chicken and Asparagus Pasta, Wild Mushroom Beef White Sauce Pasta, and Red Sauce Chicken Cutlet Omurice with Rice. The sauces here can be freely customized, which is very convenient.

We also added on a +70 NT set meal, which lets you choose a 35 NT drink, plus salad, soup, and dessert — feels like a great deal.

The soup also comes with quite a few ingredients.

Salad

To be honest, when the soup and salad first arrived, it wasn’t obvious where the value was. But when the Curry-flavored Fresh Squid Omurice with Rice arrived, seeing that squid made our eyes light up!!!

The squid was so chewy and fresh, with a great bite to it. The curry was rich, smooth, and the flavor was really good too.

The omurice was great as well — the outer layer was smooth and tender, and the rice mixed with curry smelled and tasted amazing!!

The squid was so fresh, highly recommended!! The owner said she does daily shopping and hopes customers will order this dish every day — how cute.

The Clear Stir-fried Chicken and Asparagus Pasta had noodles with a perfect firmness, the chicken was flavorful, and the refreshing asparagus complemented everything nicely. The overall taste was great and suited our palates well.

Another thing worth mentioning is the generous portion size!!!!!! Even a growing teenage guy would probably find it enough here!! Just look at the amount of chicken in the plate.

You can tell the chicken was marinated beforehand. Just as my friend said, the cost-performance is definitely high!!

Drinks are like those from any regular bubble tea shop — lots of options, and all in 500 cc portions, so you can drink to your heart’s content.

Seasonings~~ the one on the far right is cheese powder.

Adding the cheese powder gives the flavor a whole new twist.

For dessert, there’s the famous Black Ball Soft Tofu with Grass Jelly — smooth and delicious.

The owner said fresh milk is used, no cutting corners.

I swapped with a friend and tried a bit of the Red Sauce Chicken Cutlet Omurice with Rice.

This dish also looked very generous — the chicken cutlet was tender and tasty, and the red sauce’s tomato base was flavorful with a nice touch of sweet and sour.

The White Sauce Wild Mushroom Beef Penne Pasta.

The penne has a good bite to it — we really liked the firmness of this pasta. The soup has an added aroma of mushrooms, and the beef is pretty good too.

Recommended by the owner’s wife, we also ordered this dessert: Sanbao Soft Tofu with Grass Jelly.

Now I finally understand why my friend said the value for money here is so high — it’s delicious, haha. Eating out is always better with a group so you can share and try more flavors. I never would’ve thought that Italian food from such a place could be this tasty. It definitely suits the general public’s taste, and when you pair it with drinks and desserts, the whole combo feels like such a great deal. Whether for lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, this is a great spot to satisfy your cravings. The prices and food combinations are very down-to-earth, and I believe it will be quite popular. We’ve found another go-to spot for a nice meal.
