Back Bay Beach Cleanup & Learning the Wisdom of Hunters – Kenting Launches Dragon Boat Festival Series Activities

During the weekend Dragon Boat Festival holiday, in addition to traditional activities like eating zongzi and watching dragon boat races, Kenting National Park is offering the “Wisdom of Hunters” and “Get Close to 'Clean Oceans – Crabby Beach Cleanup” events, allowing visitors to spend a unique Dragon Boat Festival by connecting with nature.

The Hengchun Peninsula, where Kenting National Park is located, boasts picturesque scenery and abundant mountain and marine resources. Its ever-changing natural beauty is beloved by many locals, and since ancient times, it has also been home to indigenous peoples who have sustainably relied on the mountains and forests for their livelihoods, using their wisdom to maintain the balance of nature.

The “Wisdom of Hunters” event held on May 31 in Kenting aims to take participants into the mountains, following in the footsteps of traditional hunters to learn how they survived and hunted in the forests, while also understanding how to respect the natural ecosystems that sustain their way of life.

And on June 1, the “Get Close to 'Clean Oceans – Crabby Beach Cleanup” event will not only introduce participants to the west coast of the Hengchun Peninsula – Back Bay – but also, in order to restore a clean environment for the creatures living along this shoreline, will lead everyone in a beach cleanup to restore the beach’s natural beauty. After the cleanup, as the sunset glows over the horizon, guides will take participants to visit the hidden residents nestled within the forest vines, using ecological introductions to highlight the importance of environmental protection.
