Fujian Jiulong River Tourist Bus Accident: Remains of Six Passengers Including Tong A-De Found

Following days of search and rescue efforts after the tour bus accident involving a Five Star Travel mainland China tour group on May 23, the remains of six missing passengers have now been recovered on the day of the incident and on May 24 and 25: Tong A-Zhu (46, female), Lai Chen-Yue (61, female), Chen Jun-Yuan (50, male), and Lin Tai-Ping (68, male). According to the Tourism Bureau, one man and one woman were also found in the river today (May 26), and after identification, they were confirmed to be Tong A-De (66, male) and Tong Yue-Ying (49, female). One passenger remains unaccounted for.

Among the injured passengers from the accident, 10 were flown back to Taoyuan this morning at 4:05 a.m. via a medical charter flight operated by TransAsia Airways. The previously recovered remains of Lai Chen-Yue and Chen Jun-Yuan were cremated and returned to Songshan Airport with their families today at 6:45 p.m.; the ashes of another passenger, Lin Tai-Ping (68, male), will be returned to Songshan Airport with his family at 6:45 p.m. on May 27.
