Global Ranking of Travel Accommodation Costs in 106 Cities: Geneva Takes the Top Spot, Taipei Ranks 51st

United StatesBloombergOn May 30, Bloomberg released a ranking of average travel accommodation costs in 106 cities worldwide. Among them, Geneva, Switzerland, topped the list with an average nightly stay costing $308 (approximately NT$9,240), while two Taiwanese cities also made it into the top 100—Taipei City ranked 51st and Taoyuan County came in at 81st.

According to Bloomberg’s ranking, the world’s most expensive cities for a one-night stay are Geneva, Dubai, and Kuwait, with average prices of $308, $273, and $253 (approximately NT$9,240, NT$8,190, and NT$7,590), respectively. Miami ranks fifth, with an average nightly rate of $245, making it the most expensive city in the U.S. for hotel stays.

Focusing solely on Asian cities, Hong Kong leads with an average of $242 (approximately NT$7,260) per night, ranking sixth globally. It is closely followed by Singapore, which ties with London, UK, at $235 (approximately NT$7,050) and shares the eighth spot globally, coming in second in Asia behind Hong Kong.

Taipei City and Taoyuan County are also on the list. Taipei City ranks 51st with an average cost of $157 per night, placing sixth among Asian cities. Taoyuan County ranks 81st with $121 per night but does not make the top ten most expensive Asian cities for accommodation.

Meanwhile, the world’s most affordable city for accommodation is Hanoi, Vietnam, with an average nightly rate of just $62 (approximately NT$1,860), followed by Makati in the Philippines and Chennai in India.
