Taiwan’s Most Scenic Railway Branch Line Extended: Jingting, Pingxi, and HSR Museum Stations to Be Connected

Known as “Taiwan’s most scenic railway branch line,” the Shen’ao Line resumed service on January 9 this year to improve transportation access to the Keelung HSR Museum. It has been reported that to facilitate travel between Pingxi and the Keelung Badouzi area, Taiwan Railways plans to connect the Pingxi Line to the Shen’ao Line by mid-July. Originally starting from Ruifang Station, the Shen’ao Line will now run bidirectionally all the way to Jingting and HSR Museum stations.

The establishment of the HSR Museum has breathed new life into the Shen’ao Line, allowing the public to take a scenic train ride directly from Ruifang and arrive at the museum in just eight minutes. Starting in mid-July, Taiwan Railways will integrate the platforms and rail lines of the Pingxi and Shen’ao Lines, enabling passengers to board at Jingting Station and travel through stations such as Shiding and Pingxi all the way to the HSR Museum Station. The HSR Museum has also expressed enthusiasm for this development, noting that the extended route not only connects travelers between the two areas but also facilitates one-day itineraries covering Badouzi, Pingxi, and Shiding, making travel more convenient for visitors.
