The main observation deck inside Tokyo Tower will now be transformed into a grand galaxy where the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl meet. The annual“Tokyo Tower – Milky Way Illumination”event, running from today until early July, will be the perfect spot for couples to enjoy a romantic evening this summer.

Now in its 10th year, the “Tokyo Tower – Milky Way Illumination” is different this year. In addition to decorating the 1F of the Main Observation Deck with 27,000 LED lights to create a galaxy that stretches across the night sky, the “Ascending Stairway” on the rooftop of FootTown will be open every weekend and holiday, transforming into a celestial ladder leading to the galaxy. With 25,000 LED lights spiraling up along the handrail all the way to the entrance of the Main Observation Deck, it’s dazzling and mesmerizing.

With the “Ascending Stairway” joining this year’s illumination event, the opening hours have been extended. On weekdays, it will be open from 5 PM to 9 PM, and on weekends and national holidays from 11 AM to 9 PM. Visitors can ascend the heavenly staircase, gradually taking in higher views as they climb, before finally entering the Main Observation Deck adorned with a blue starry sky, where they can admire the magnificent nightscape of Tokyo.
