After the Yellow Rubber Duck, Hoffman unveils a 10-meter-tall bamboo-woven "Pink Kitten" in Shanghai

Following the global craze over the Yellow Rubber Duck, Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman has brought his latest large-scale artwork — a "Pink Kitten" entirely woven from bamboo. On the 7th, Hofman posted the latest photo of the "Pink Kitten" on his official fan page, inviting visitors to strike a Pink Kitten pose in front of Shanghai Century Park.

This 10-meter-tall giant "Pink Kitten," waving its two front paws and wearing a mysterious smile, with an appearance entirely crafted from bamboo, is a large-scale environmental art installation specially designed by Hofman for the "Art & Design Biweekly Exhibition" held at Shanghai Century Park.

Hofman stated that the inspiration for this adorable giant pink cat came from encountering a stray cat during his visit to Shanghai’s Fuxing Park, and while traveling in China during the Spring Festival, he saw bamboo — a material which inspired him to use it for the exterior of the artwork.

Since the appearance of the "Pink Kitten" in the park, it has also driven an increase in park revenue, with long lines of cat-loving visitors forming every day. Hofman also mentioned that this “big pink cat” will take up permanent residence in Shanghai, unlike the Yellow Rubber Duck which traveled all around the world.
