Taichung’s 8 Free Sightseeing Bus Routes: Explore Gaomei Wetlands and Qiuhong Valley This Summer

With the peak summer travel season underway, the Taichung Tourism Bureau has launched free “Taichung City Sightseeing Shuttle Buses” starting July 5 to promote local tourism. The eight routes will take visitors to popular attractions such as Gaomei Wetlands, Wuci Fishing Port, and Qiuhong Valley.

The sightseeing shuttle bus service introduced by the Taichung Tourism Bureauincludes eight routes: “Explore Toubiankeng,” “Purple Garden Tour,” “Ride Along HouDongfeng,” “Discover TanYashen,” “Fun Trip to Ji’anpu,” “Blue Ribbon Light Tour,” “Stroll Through Wu Dalong,” and “Urban Fashion Tour.” Most routes depart from either the train station or high-speed rail station, with each shuttle running hourly from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.The shuttle bus service will only be available from July 5 to August 24.

In addition, Taiwan’s renowned natural attraction — Gaomei Wetlands — has completed a 691-meter-long interpretive peninsula and wooden boardwalk to allow visitors to enjoy the wetland ecosystem while minimizing environmental impact. The boardwalk was officially opened on the 7th. Designed to elevate visitors above ground, the structure preserves existing wildlife corridors and embodies the conservation philosophy of “keeping visitors on the boardwalk and the wetlands for intertidal organisms.” This helps reduce trampling on the wetlands and protects Taiwan’s largest sedge marsh ecosystem.
