A summer water playground for southern Taiwan residents: The Whale Pool at Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf to open on July 1

After heavy rains, the blazing sun heralds the arrival of summer. On the 23rd, Chiayi County Government’s Bureau of Cultural Affairs and Tourism announced,the Whale Pool at Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf will be open from July 1 to August 31 during the summer vacation period. The public can visit for water activities every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

Dongshi Fisherman’s Wharf was originally a popular attraction in Chiayi. Since the opening of the Whale Pool, it has become one of the top choices for water fun among residents in the Yunlin–Chiayi–Tainan area. In 2017, it is scheduled to be open every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM between July 1 and August 31. The pool will be closed for cleaning and water replacement every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday—visitors should take note to avoid disappointment.

Special reminder: To ensure water safety, visitors entering the pool area must follow the instructions of on-site staff and lifeguards. Running in the pool is strictly prohibited, and visitors must leave when it is raining or thundering. To maintain cleanliness and hygiene, pets are not allowed in the pool.
