Two years after resuming flights, unable to overcome losses — Indonesia AirAsia to suspend Taipei–Jakarta service in August

Indonesia AirAsia, which announced the resumption of Taiwan–Jakarta flights in May 2012, has been unable to overcome losses after two years of operation. It recently announced that it will suspend flights from Jakarta to Taipei starting August 11 this year, and flights from Taipei to Jakarta starting August 12.

According to an interview with Indonesia AirAsia by the media, the main reason is that the performance of the Jakarta–Taipei route has not met expectations, with slow growth and monthly losses, leading to the decision to suspend the route.

Indonesia AirAsia also pointed out that although it plans to cancel the Jakarta–Taipei route in August, it intends to increase flights to other underserved routes in Southeast Asia in the future and purchase additional aircraft to enhance services on the Manila–Jakarta route. Passengers can book alternative flights or apply for ticket refunds.
