Electrification Project of the Hualien-Taitung Railway  Ministry of Transportation: Safety Guaranteed by Experts

The Ministry of Transportation stated that the preparatory work before the opening of the electrified Hualien-Taitung Railway has been recognized by an international independent verification and validation (IV&V) agency as meeting operational standards. Additionally, a commissioning team composed of scholars and experts invited by the Ministry conducted an on-site inspection, which passed and issued an operating permit, confirming that the railway meets operational safety standards.

According to data from the Ministry of Transportation, experts and scholars were invited on May 16 and 17, 2014, to carry out a commissioning inspection of this route, and equipment and functions were re-examined and confirmed to meet the operational requirements for opening. An operating permit was subsequently issued on June 12, 2014, and approval was given for the railway to open on June 28, 2014.

The Hualien-Taitung Railway Electrification Project mainly includes double-tracking of bottleneck sections and full-line electrification.Currently, the main projects related to operational opening have all been completed and can be opened for use in advance.Surrounding auxiliary projects will continue to be carried out in the future.
