A "salt hotel" made with 30,000 kg of salt is bursting with savory flavor—only the Flower Mom family is staying as guests

Sand sculptures and salt sculptures are nothing new, but now the "salt hotel" is the ultimate trend！In conjunction with the "One Sight, Two Sculptures Art Festival" at the Yunlin-Kaohsiung-Tainan Coastal National Scenic Area, Asia's only "salt hotel" is on display from now until after the 2015 Lunar New Year at the Taiwan Salt Museum in Qigu, Tainan. And the Flower Mom family from the cartoon *We Are a Family* are currently the only approved guests to stay there！

Qigu in Tainan once had Taiwan’s largest salt field. To coincide with this year's "One Sight, Two Sculptures Art Festival," artists were specially invited to create a salt-filled "salt hotel" using 30,000 kg of salt. From the living room and kitchen to the bedroom and bathroom—everything from small tea tables and chairs to large sofas and beds—is entirely carved out of salt. Paired with exotic lighting effects and the only guests allowed to stay—the Flower Mom family—it has greatly amazed visitors stepping into the salt hotel！

Artist Chen Hanzhong, who sculpted the "salt hotel," shared his creative insights, explaining that because the salt hotel was built inside an air-conditioned room, the temperature and humidity made the works prone to collapsing, cracking, and constantly seeping water. It took nearly two months of constant adjustments and experiments to complete, more than double the time typically required for outdoor salt sculptures. Director Shi Ruixian of the Taiwan Salt Museum also mentioned that since all the structures of the salt hotel have not yet fully hardened, protective lines will be set up during the summer vacation, allowing the public to view but not touch the exhibits. After the summer, the museum plans to introduce a fully interactive salt hotel and salt restaurant for visitors.
