The once-extinct legendary coffee bean "Bourbon Pointu" is set to make its appearance in Taiwan. The flagship café brand established by UCC COFFEE, COFFEE LOVER’s PLANET, has secured exclusive rights to sell the UCC-exclusive Bourbon Pointu in Taiwan. This is also an overseas limited exclusive release, but this time only 180 sets will be supplied, each priced at NT$2,800. Coffee enthusiasts who want it should act fast.

In the 18th century, the Bourbon Pointu coffee bean, known for its unique flavor and rare production, was favored by European royalty and nobility. The Bourbon Pointu coffee bean boasts bright fruity and floral notes, blending citrus and creamy aromas with a velvety mouthfeel, yet contains only half the caffeine of regular Arabica beans. Louis XV of the Bourbon dynasty called it "the best coffee in the world," propelling the fame of Bourbon Pointu to new heights.

However, due to factors such as climate change and pests, the Bourbon Pointu coffee bean variety once disappeared from the global coffee market, becoming a legendary rarity. Nevertheless, UCC’s Agricultural Research Laboratory, together with official entities from Réunion Island in France, jointly implemented a revival project. Leveraging UCC’s accumulated coffee expertise, they successfully revived the variety after seven years.

From the completion of its revival until last year, the Bourbon Pointu coffee bean was sold exclusively in Japan for ten years, often selling out immediately upon release. This year, Taiwan is making its first bid to offer it in a limited release, with just 180 sets available, each priced at NT$2,800.
