A Three-Day Foodie & Sightseeing Spree in Tainan’s Historic City — So Many Attractions and Snacks, Still Not Enough

Just after ringing in the New Year, I embarked on a long-awaited trip to Tainan’s historic city. Although I’m from southern Taiwan, Tainan has always felt unfamiliar to me. I’ve heard countless times that Tainan boasts an overwhelming variety of street food and is a cultural hub filled with historical landmarks. So this time, I packed my itinerary to the brim and even planned to try numerous beef noodle soup spots for a hearty feast. However, plans didn’t go as expected — due to time constraints, I still couldn’t visit many attractions or try many snacks. Some of the places and foods I missed include Dongxing Foreign Firm, Governor’s Residence, Qianqi Seed Museum, Yongkang Veterans’ Village, Haishan Pavilion, Sunset Viewing Platform, Canal Museum, Ah He’s Pork Rice, Sha Tao Temple’s Vegetable Zongzi, Ah Zhong’s Fish Porridge, Shijingjiu Beef Noodle Soup, Qi Ge Beef Noodle Soup, Tao Gong Spicy Hot Pot, and Jington Grilled Chicken Skewers. I’ll just have to save them for my next visit. This article serves as a summary and highlight of the trip for your reference.
