Travel Center / Comprehensive Report
The Japanese F&B brand ToriJO from Chiba Prefecture opened its first overseas outlet, ToriJO Robatayaki, in Taiwan in September 2016. Its second branch is set to open at Dayeh Mall in Taoyuan, with a soft launch on December 8 and an official opening on December 9. In addition to delicious grilled skewers, creative dishes, and donburi rice bowls, the Dayeh store will offer over 20 new "Imperial Banquet Dishes," along with a black tuna cutting show once per quarter.
ToriJO’s first Taiwan outlet in Taipei was renovated from an old Japanese-era railway dormitory. Although the second branch is located inside a mall, Mulinuo Dining Group — the licensee that brought ToriJO to Taiwan — hired the same Japanese design master to recreate the feel of a standalone Japanese house within the shopping center, delivering the most authentically Japanese dining experience in the mall.

Targeting the family-oriented clientele of Dayeh Mall, a variety of lunch-exclusive Imperial Banquet Dishes have been specially designed by ToriJO’s Japanese head chef, Kobayashi, for the “ToriJO Dayeh Store.” The Imperial Banquet series includes five categories — “Charcoal Grilled,” “Donburi Rice,” “Jubako (Layered Box),” “Earthen Pot,” and “Fresh Fish” — totaling over 20 varieties. Each Imperial Banquet comes with a main dish, tempura, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), miso soup, pickles, and a trio of seasonal side dishes in small compartments. Prices range from NT$290 to NT$560. For dinner, there are also various grilled dishes, sashimi, and set meals available, ensuring an authentic Japanese culinary and drinking experience all day long.

Eel dishes are beloved by foodies in both Taiwan and Japan. ToriJO’s Japanese head chef, Kobayashi, uses high-quality Taiwanese-farmed eel to create three premium dishes: Eel Inari Sushi, Eel Manju, and Eel Tamagoyaki. The Eel Manju features taro steamed until soft, lightly mixed with a bit of potato starch for a fluffy texture, then deep-fried and topped generously with unagi kabayaki and vegetables, served in a slightly thickened bonito-kelp broth. The Eel Inari Sushi is a complex creation: sweet bean wrappers are first simmered in dashi and soy sauce, then wrapped around specially seasoned Koshihikari rice, topped with unagi kabayaki, and finally tied with a strip of dried gourd.

Prizes include a “50% off your current meal” voucher (for use that visit), as well as NT$1,000 discount coupons, chef-recommended assorted skewer platters, and other promotional offers.
