Sip American Craft Beers at the Oregon Brewers Festival

While Munich’s Oktoberfest takes place from 9/20–10/5, those who can’t wait might consider heading to Oregon, USA. The 27th annual Oregon Brewers Festival (Oregon Brewers Festival) officially kicked off on Wednesday (7/23) and runs for five days. Hundreds of brewers and beer enthusiasts paraded across Portland’s Hawthorne Bridge to Waterfront Park. An estimated 80,000 people are expected to flock to the event over the five days.

The Oregon Brewers Festival is one of the longest-running and most beloved beer festivals in the U.S. Located on the western bank of the Willamette River and set against the backdrop of Oregon’s highest peak, Mount Hood, it’s the perfect spot for craft beer lovers. With its laid-back vibe and award-winning brews, the festival truly reflects the spirit of Oregon.

The focus of the Oregon Brewers Festival is craft beer, giving travelers the opportunity to try a wide range of American craft beer brands. With offerings from over 80 U.S. brands, you can see more than 20 different brewing techniques, ensuring everyone can enjoy a fantastic drinking experience over the five-day event.

But it’s not just about tasting—the annual event also features live music performances, beer-themed vendors, displays of beer memorabilia, appearances by beer writers and publishers, homebrewing workshops, and a diverse selection of regional cuisines. The Root Beer Garden at Fireman’s Park even offers free homemade root beer for minors or designated drivers. Minors are also welcome to attend with parental supervision.

Beer tap hours: Wednesday to Saturday, noon to 9 PM; Sunday, noon to 7 PM.

Admission: Free entry, but you must purchase a 2014 commemorative glass (approx. $7 USD / ~NT$210) to enter. Beer is served using tokens, with each token costing $1 USD (approx. NT$30).
