The design concept of Jamie’s Italian branches around the world varies uniquely. The Hong Kong branch was designed by the British design firm Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (MBDS), incorporating elements that reflect local culture and character. For instance, a shipping container is placed in the kitchen area as a nod to Causeway Bay’s history as a fishing village. At the same time, vibrant colors and distinctive design techniques embody the idea of “letting food take center stage.”
To highlight a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, a large wall in the restaurant features graffiti art inspired by Hong Kong culture, created by Jamie Oliver’s friend and artist Barnaby Purdy. Having collaborated multiple times with Jamie’s restaurants, Barnaby designed a mural for Jamie’s Italian Hong Kong depicting a dragon guarding the city against alluring mermaids and storms — colorful and rich with Eastern flair. In addition to Barnaby’s personal touch, local Hong Kong artist Barlo also contributed, showcasing artwork themed around the Chinese fu dog on another wall of the restaurant.
The menu features signature dishes such as an antipasto platter with cured meats, cheeses, and pickles, along with classic Italian offerings like the famous spaghetti with king prawns and tagliatelle with meat sauce. There are also curated selections such as squid ink pasta and free-range roasted chicken.
Since the opening of the first Jamie’s Italian in Oxford, UK in 2008, the restaurant chain has continuously expanded across various regions. It now operates 40 branches in the UK, Europe, and Asia. The Hong Kong branch will be led by General Manager Stella Cheng and Executive Chef Adrian Kavanagh. Jamie Oliver expressed his delight at the opening of another Jamie’s Italian in Asia and looks forward to meeting customers in Hong Kong.
