Shilin’s “Children’s New Wonderland” Takes Over & Plans Free Public Trial by Late November

A cherished memory for many generations of Taipei residents,the Taipei Municipal Children’s Amusement Park, is about to close its doors,and its replacement, the “Children’s New Wonderland” in Shilin District, is now in the final stages of completion. The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, which will manage the park, said it is expected to open for free public trials by the end of November.

Highly anticipated by many, the biggest highlight of the “Children’s New Wonderland” is the expansion from the previous seven rides to thirteen. In addition to classic attractions such as the tea cup ride, music carousel, spinning airplanes, and bumper cars, new features include the thrilling free-fall ride “Jungle Roar Treehouse” and a pirate ship. There will also be other free attractions, including a drum zone, fish pond viewing area, physical climbing zone, slides, seesaws, sandpit, projection interactive games, performance plaza, and Taipei Garden Plaza.

The Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation stated that all rides in the Children’s New Wonderland are designed for children under 12 or for parent-child shared use, and are currently undergoing testing. Aside from plans to open for free public trials by the end of November, future night openings are also being considered. However, the official opening will only take place once safety is fully confirmed, so no specific date has been set yet. As for ticket pricing, the TRTC said it is expected to follow the old children’s park model, charging per ride and entrance, with affordability as the guiding principle.
