Riverside parks have always been one of the main leisure destinations for the public. To beautify the riverside parks, the Taipei City Government has planted floral landscapes from time to time. For example, last year, Guting Riverside Park was covered with a vast expanse of Cosmos sulphureus, creating a “golden sea of flowers.” This year, in addition to the floral displays, the Taipei Water Department plans to transform Guting Riverside Park into a wedding-themed riverside park, with completion expected by the end of August.

Located by the Tamsui River, Guting Riverside Park has long been a signature attraction in Taipei City, known for its Cosmos sulphureus sea of flowers and logo totems. Originally, the Taipei Water Department had planned back in 2013 to transform Guting Riverside Park into a wedding-themed park by adding heart-shaped arches, large Chinese characters for “double happiness,” festive music bands, double-heart silhouette sculptures, and LOVE signage for bridal photo shoots. However, the related construction only officially began in May 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of August this year.

After September this year, in addition to the Cosmos sulphureus sea of flowers, an area of 3,000 to 3,500 square meters near the wedding-themed advertising spots in Guting Riverside Park will also be planted with various types of flowers, including Angelonia, summer snapdragon, portulaca, gloriosa daisy, salvia, globe amaranth, verbena, and petunia. These will make the park even more suitable for bridal photo shoots. The Water Department expects that once the project is completed by the end of August, Guting Riverside Park will become a popular spot for wedding photography.
