A foreign man took Bus Route 1 of Taoyuan Bus on the evening of the 4th, allegedly pressed the stop button too late and missed his stop, which led to him losing his temper and swearing at the driver. The video uploaded online sparked widespread condemnation among netizens, affecting foreigners in Taiwan as well. One foreign man, Hemingway, said in an interview with “Don’t Play Studio”: “I hope not all Taiwanese think that we foreigners are prone to anger.”

“This isn’t a nationality issue, it’s a personality issue.” Hemingway, who has been in Taiwan for eight years, said the man in the video might be young and feel that speaking English makes him different. He added that some foreigners don’t have a good image in Taiwan. “I hope foreigners can love this country in their own way.” Hemingway once skateboarded all the way from Taipei to Kenting, using his own method to get to know Taiwan. “I want to promote the beauty of this country through my videos. I really love this place.”
