The first edition of the Michelin Guide Bangkok was released on the evening of December 6, with a total of 17 restaurants receiving one or two stars, but none earning three stars. After Bangkok, the first edition of the Michelin Guide Taipei is expected to be published in March 2018.
Among the 17 restaurants, three earned two stars — one of them being Gaggan, which ranked No. 1 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The other two two-star restaurants are Le Normandie, a French restaurant located in Bangkok’s Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and Mezzaluna at Lebua Hotel. As for the one-star restaurants, there are 14 in total, including Nahm, Bo.lan, and Suhring, all of which are listed on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. However, the biggest surprise was street-side stir-fry eatery Jay Fai in the old city district also earning a one-star rating.
In addition, this guide also features 35 Bib Gourmand-recommended eateries, offering a diverse range of dining options such as Thai-style stir-fried kway teow shops, stir-fried chicken noodle shops, and seafood restaurants.
