Don’t stay curled up in bed on these chilly days—it’s the perfect time to admire silvergrass now. Every autumn, silvery-white patches of silvergrass start appearing across Taiwan, and at Sanjiaopuding Mountain, where Shulin and Guishan districts in New Taipei meet, the hillsides are currently covered in a sea of silvergrass. When the wind blows, it creates undulating waves of silvery-white that are both elegant and dreamlike. The picturesque scenery has become a popular IG photo spot, so you can go for a hike and snap some beautiful shots at the same time!

Sanjiaopuding Mountain is located at the border of Shulin District and Guishan Township, at an elevation of 285 meters, also known as Qiangziliao Mountain. The most beautiful time of year for Sanjiaopuding Mountain is autumn. From the mountaintop, you can gaze out at hillsides covered in silvergrass swaying in the wind, offering a mesmerizing charm that sweeps away all worries.

When visiting Sanjiaopuding Mountain, you can connect it with two other well-known peaks in Shulin, “Datong Mountain” and “Qinglong Ridge,” tackling all three mountains in one go. Alternatively, you can enter from the Zhongzheng Road or Zhongyi Street trailheads in Shulin. From the mountaintop, you’ll have sweeping views of Greater Taipei, Shulin, and Banqiao, and you might even spot airplanes flying overhead. It’s a highly recommended relaxing hike and sightseeing trip.

Transportation: Walk about 1 km from Shulin Railway Station to the Cultural Street trailhead, or take bus 701 from Shulin Railway Station to Gonglu Xincun Station (then walk about 500 m to the Zhongling Shrine trailhead). Enter from the Zhongzheng Road or Zhongyi Street trailheads in Shulin.
