Fried steak, one of the must-try foods when traveling to Tokyo, Japan, is something many who’ve tried it can’t forget. Now you can enjoy it in Taiwan too. In addition to Zha Niu, which opened today (1st), you can also try it at pork cutlet specialists Yebiwei and Shengshi Pork Cutlet.

Zha Niu
The first Zha Niu branch is located in the East District, with 40 seats and an overall Japanese-style ambiance. It adopts a semi-self-service approach where customers order their own meals, so no service charge is applied. Individual dishes range from NT$238 to NT$398, while set meals range from NT$298 to NT$458. Each set meal comes with Koshihikari rice, seasonal fresh vegetables, sugary miso soup, pickles, and dessert. Aside from the tomahawk pork chop (a non-beef option, considering some people don’t eat beef), the other four main dishes are wing steak, classic filet mignon, beef cube, and veal ribs. Among them, veal ribs are limited to just 15 portions per day, with only five main dishes sold in total.

Taiwan Yebiwei
Starting June 15, Taiwan Yebiwei will also serve fried steak for NT$280. The fried steak at Yebiwei was developed by Chef Ino, the head chef, who spent nearly a month using nearly 300 pieces of steak, dozens of types of coatings, and various oil temperatures and timing tests to create a version that received unanimous praise from the culinary team. In addition to the steak itself, Yebiwei also serves it with mashed yam and onsen egg.

Yishilu - Shengshi Japanese Pork Cutlet
Although it’s a pork cutlet specialty store, you can also get fried steak here. Currently, they offer two options: Crispy Fried New York Strip Steak Set Meal (NT$480) and Crispy Fried Wing Steak Set Meal (NT$420). The restaurant also serves the steak on a hot iron plate, allowing customers to control the doneness according to their preference.
