The shop may not look impressive, but during the meal, it’s noticeable that most of the customers are regulars. Aside from the braised pork rice, there are also stir-fried noodles and rice vermicelli, as well as a variety of other cold meat and vegetable side dishes.

There aren’t many seats inside, and with the rather hot weather, eating here can be a bit uncomfortable. However, seeing the reports on the walls and the diners enjoying their meals with great relish still made me look forward to the delicious food that was about to arrive!

I simply ordered braised pork rice, mixed soup, and some side dishes, and the total cost was just over a hundred NT dollars — it’s really that cheap…

For the cold cuts, I chose the large intestine head. It has a chewy texture from being blanched, and when paired with shredded ginger and a drizzle of soy sauce, it’s simply tasty and delicious.

My personal favorite, the mixed soup, is incredibly rich in content — almost like a combination of all the cold cuts. Items like large and small intestines, pork belly slices, dried bamboo shoots, pork stomach, and pig blood are all gathered in this one bowl. The soup is flavorful and the ingredients are top-notch — absolutely delicious.

The fried noodles in Taichung are somewhat like Japanese-style fried wheat noodles served with minced pork sauce. They’re not overly salty and carry a nostalgic, old-school charm.

Every day’s braised pork rice has its own characteristics, and this shop’s bamboo skewer braised pork rice, though equally tender and melts in your mouth, has just the right level of saltiness without feeling greasy. Paired with distinct-textured white rice, there are also pickled bamboo shoots and pickled mustard greens to complement it. And after finishing the pork, leaving a soft-boiled egg to enjoy along with it — the feeling of happiness at that moment is off the charts!!
