Taiwan’s First Card-Free Tech Parking Lot Showcases “Golden City Dance” Style

The Golden City Multi-Level Parking Lot in Tucheng District, New Taipei City, has been revitalized today (August 20) after 15 years of service. In addition to being adorned with numerous local cultural and artistic decorations—giving each floor its own unique theme—the newly renovated parking lot features a variety of tech-enhanced facilities to make parking more convenient for users.

With a total of 537 small parking spaces, the Golden City Parking Lot’s renovation is designed around the concept of “Golden City, Dance.” The spiral ramp is themed as the “Dance of Rotation,” while different floors feature nine distinct themes including the “Dance of Roots,” “Dance of Life,” and “Dance of Ink,” aiming to provide residents of Tucheng and visiting travelers with a more refined parking experience.

The renovation also introduced a ticket-free parking fee system that uses digital imaging to record vehicle parking duration and charges. Red and green lights are installed above the first-floor parking spaces, with green indicating available spots to help drivers find parking easily. Additional features include an intelligent energy-saving and carbon-reduction system, quick vehicle location search, EV charging stations, mobile phone charging stations, designated parking for women, alcohol testing devices, and more—transforming Golden City Parking Lot into an eco-friendly and energy-efficient facility.

Chen Wenrui, Deputy Director of the New Taipei City Department of Transportation, stated that the Golden City Parking Lot has incorporated creative ideas from the private sector, transforming the space from a mere parking function into one that also integrates local art and culture. With the support of technology, the Golden City Parking Lot has become Taiwan’s first card-free parking facility. More high-quality parking environments will continue to be provided for the public in the future.
