Mid-Autumn Holiday Travel Surge: Taiwan Railways Adds Trains, Tickets on Sale from Midnight August 22

The Mid-Autumn long holiday will arrive on September 6. To accommodate travelers returning home, Taiwan Railways will add a total of 185 train services across all classes, with ticket sales via the internet, convenience stores, and phone booking opening at midnight on Friday, August 22.

Taiwan Railways stated that due to the anticipated large volume of traffic on the first day of ticket sales, to avoid affecting passengers' ability to book, the “remaining ticket inquiry” function will be temporarily suspended from midnight to 1 a.m. It also advises the public to wait 30 minutes after completing their booking before collecting tickets at stations, post offices, or the four major convenience store chains.

In addition, passengers should note that in order to make it easier for those who need to travel to purchase tickets,Taiwan Railways has introduced a new rule starting August 15: anyone with three instances of booking without collection within a three-month period will be suspended from booking for six months.Passengers are advised to collect their tickets within the designated time frame or cancel them themselves after booking to avoid impacting their future eligibility.
