Located on Yuanlin Road in Nangang, 【Three Kingdoms Group Hot Pot】 is actually a place we’ve heard a lot about from Jiege. It’s an affordable hot pot restaurant opened by her cousin, and Jiege even worked part-time here when she was a student. Knowing we love hot pot, she kept recommending their super popular 【Gout-Friendly Uni Hot Pot】 and seafood to us. But despite talking about it for ages, we never got the chance to go.
It wasn’t until I saw someone sharing it in a Taipei foodies’ group that I suddenly remembered it was the hot pot place Jiege had mentioned so many times. I immediately asked her to help us make a reservation to try the legendary freshly caught seafood.
Since the owner is Jiege’s cousin, when we messaged to book, she specially sent us photos of the seafood platter. On the day, the owner had just brought back freshly caught seafood from Nanfangao—grape sweet shrimp, sword prawns, bullhorn crabs, firefly squid… It was all super sweet and fresh, with a huge plate for just 500 NT. The sweet shrimp were amazing even eaten raw, and the firefly squid became my favorite of the day. There were also lobsters, hairy crabs, uni, and lots of other seafood—we’ll just have to save those for next time.
The owner said he originally just wanted to open a simple, affordable hot pot joint like Sanma Hot Pot, starting at 109 NT per pot. But being a foodie himself, he became more and more picky about ingredients. In his quest for freshness and quality, he ended up focusing on hot pots featuring freshly caught or seasonal seafood. They even offer delivery service now. Guess food lovers all have this kind of crazy passion—it kind of reminded me of that Sixth-Grader A-Shu guy. XD
Even now, Three Kingdoms Group Hot Pot remains great value, with prices starting as low as 109 NT, up to a luxurious 590 NT Frost-Toned Seafood Hot Pot. There are options for every budget. The basic hot pot veggies and sides are already quite generous, and additional items like hot pot ingredients or seafood start at just 40 NT each. No service charge either—the prices are really heartwarming.
That day, the four of us ordered a regular 240–280 NT hot pot, added a big seafood platter for 500 NT, plus some 49 NT portions of fresh squid and two 49 NT orders of scallops (four pieces total). That brought the average cost per person to just over 300 NT. Everything was super fresh and great value, and it’s so close to us. This place is definitely going on our must-visit list.

Single order 【Freshly Caught Seafood Platter: Grape Sweet Shrimp, Sword Prawns, Bullhorn Crab, Firefly Squid】500 NT

【Three Kingdoms Group Hot Pot】, which has been open on Yuanlin Road in Nangang for a long time, is actually highly recommended online and very popular in the Nangang and Xizhi area. It’s always full during meal times, so it’s best to make a reservation in advance.

Basic hot pots start at 109 NT, with luxurious options like the 590 NT Frost-Toned Seafood Hot Pot, the 688 NT Boston Lobster Hot Pot (limited trial price), and the 990 NT Uni Hot Pot… There are options for every budget, plus many choices of freshly caught seafood. The restaurant doesn’t charge a service fee, and veggies or hot pot additions are a flat 40 NT each.

Best of all, premium ingredients are only 49 NT per portion. We ordered some freshly caught squid and scallops from Yilan—they were both super sweet. Really such great value.

We didn’t order the Uni Hot Pot that day because we were worried about gout (just kidding), which is a bit of a shame. We’ll come back to try it another day.

I ordered that day【Huanggai Premium Meat Hot Pot / American Angus Sirloin】240 NTThe side dish platter was very generous, and it also included the shop’s signature meatball and squid ball soups. Just this hot pot and the main sides were already quite filling.

You can choose any combination for the broth. I went with the fruit and veggie energy broth—it was sweet and refreshing, and I felt great after eating it without that dry-mouth feeling.
Jiege said that back when she worked here, they used to simmer the broth for a long time every day. The quality is definitely guaranteed, and I personally loved it too.

Also, even though I’m not a fan of spicy food, their pork intestines with duck blood were really delicious—it’s also a popular signature dish at the shop.

The boss uses American Angus beef, which is high quality with just the right amount of marbling—super tender.

When the white rice was served, I was actually a bit shocked—it looked like so much, like they were afraid we wouldn’t get full. But even I, the rice bucket, surprisingly didn’t finish it XDDD. I left about a third of the bowl.

There are also free drinks available nearby, and you can help yourself to dipping sauces.

My friend chose【Ganning Hand-Sliced Matsusaka Pork Hot Pot】280 NTMade with limited-edition, bacteria-free raised black-haired pork, this Matsusaka pork was absolutely delicious. If I weren’t so full, I would’ve totally ordered another plate (an extra portion is 200 NT).

【Huanggai Premium Meat Hot Pot / Hand-Sliced Chicken Thigh】240 NT
The chicken thigh meat was also really good, but my top pick of the day goes to the Matsusaka pork.

When making the reservation, we ordered this 500 NT freshly caught seafood platter, which the owner had brought back from Nanfangao that day. It included grape sweet shrimp, sword prawns, bullhorn crab, firefly squid… When I saw the photo, I was completely drawn in by that fluorescent-looking squid—and it was indeed incredibly delicious.

Haha, the boss said it’s so fresh that the suction is still very strong—these are two squids stuck together.

It tastes really incredibly sweet, fresh, and crisp.

The sweet shrimp are also very fresh, and the boss suggested we try them raw. They’re outrageously sweet and fresh—the quality is really top-notch.

The cooked ones are just as delicious. Remember not to overcook them, but with such fresh sweet shrimp, Xiaotu thinks eating them raw is the best way to enjoy their natural flavor. Just toss the heads into the pot to make soup.

The helmet crabs are equally sweet and fresh, and the broth after cooking is absolutely amazing—it’s so sweet it’s like sugar was added. Since we were too full later, next time we’ll use it to make a mixed rice porridge.

Haha, thanks to Brother Jie for guiding us. 【Three Kingdoms Hotpot】is truly a budget-friendly hotpot restaurant that’s fresh, great value, and high quality. We’ll definitely come back often. Not only is it close to our office, but we also have insiders to help with reservations—it’s just so wonderful.
I found out the official fan page posts updates on the freshest seafood ingredients. Everyone can follow it. (Seriously considering asking the boss if we can buy the broth to cook at home. XD)
